You have to listen to me...
Ankh-Ka-Ra-Khonsu
You have to listen to me.
No, really.
It's not like those animals say.
You have to believe me.
Look, I used to be like you. I was a mummy, Ankh-Ka-Ra-Khonsu. Now look at me. Not a bandage on me.
*cough*
Never mind the dust.
Look, just listen. It's not like they all say. Reason works. The humans know it, the scientists know it, and in your heart of hearts you know it! You're a masquer, right? You know better than anybody! In the human realm they have it all figured out!
Wait, come back, what's the matter? I'm your friend! Believe me, I'm the best friend you have in this place, except maybe the Technocrat himself.
The Technocrat? Well, no, I've never seen him myself, but I know what he's like. Everyone's seen the Manifesto, right?
It comes down to what works, right? Think about it, all this "raahr" monster stuff is just a bit silly, don't you think? I mean, what does it get us? A chaos world of dirt and dust and open graves. There are snakes everywhere and you can't walk down the street without getting turned into a newt. I ask you, is that the life for any sentient being? Don't we deserve more?
A newt? Well, I got better. That's not the point. The point is that it's chaos, filth, and decay. The Aisling are too busy living out some human dream to have their own dreams, and Mr. His Grimness Jack would love to keep it that way.
Why? What are you, new? Oh, yeah. Each Aisling is only as powerful as their Essence as a whole, so when dreams join the Plan and become dreamers everyone of that essence loses a little bit more power. Especially the Prime Essences, who have built and hoarded their power for millennia.
Trust me, kid, Jack and the others are only looking out for their own interests. I know how they try to make it look, but it's just not true. They act like we're the monsters here! The Plan is nothing sinister; it's just a new way of thinking. What? All that talk about war? Hyperbole! Just rhetoric, plain old advertising copy. All we want is a choice for a better world, a world that works. What's so sinister about that?
Lemme ask you something, kid. I saw you and Jack talking earlier. Did he give you something to do? I thought so. He paying you? How much? Wow, you are new here!
Tell you what, I'm gonna give you a chance to double your money. Tell me what Jack wants you to do and I'll pay you the same as he's paying. Good deal, right?
Nope, you don't have to do nothing else. Just tell me what he told you to do.
Uh-huh. You don't say.
